Because I am away in Poland I had to record this program in advance. I didn't know the results of the voting at the moment of recording, so I cannot play the Song of the Week in this program. You can see the results of the voting on our website and I will play the song next week.

Song of the Week
John Cade
High Tide Has Come
John Cade was born in Dulwich, UK in December 1977 and got his first guitar when he was 7 years old. His teacher in primary school taught him three chords, and the rest he learnt himself. Music always played in his home. John grew up listening to Marvin Gaye, Otis Reading, Steve Wonder, Sam Cook, Diana Ross - all the music that his mother was playing, and those were his earliest influences. Another important influence was the Beatles, on whose songs John practiced songwriting - he picked different lines from songs on different pages of his Beatles songbook, and in this playful way started writing his first songs.

In 1994, John Cade was blown away by a guitar riff he heard on the radio. The song was Supersonic by Oasis. John Cade feels that Noel Gallagher brought the guitar back after it was dead in the 80s. Inspired, John started the band The Scene which was managed by Pat Barlow - the ex-Status Quo manager. Thanks to him, the band got some big gigs, like in The Shed in Birmingham, where they played for 2000 people. After 6 years of playing together, the band split up. Later, John started his first solo project.

John Cade is currently fundraising on SellaBand to collect funds for recording his first album.
