From Jennifer Berdetta's profile on Akamusic:
Jennifer Berdetta's passion for music began early in life, listening to some of our greatest storytellers, including The Beatles, James Taylor, and Carole King. As she was raised by her grandparents in New Jersey, Jennifer was exposed to Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra & Billie Holiday. By the time she was five years old, Jennifer had begun performing. As a teenager, she was lured by the song-writing and voices of Gladys Knight, Donny Hathaway, and Elton John. It was at this point that she began studying with acclaimed teacher and mentor, Nanette Natal. Eager to hone her song-writing skills and musicianship, Jennifer enrolled in The Jazz Program at The New School in New York City, where she was pulled in by the blues. That was when she decided that she would never put a limit on her style, so she developed the vocal ability to make any genre of music her own.
