The longest road
Writersday is the solo project of singer-songwriter Sjoerd Hoogma from Amsterdam. His poetic and direct lyrics take the listener into the small and large issues of life. He records in his own analogue home studio and tours a lot in the Netherlands.

Gabby Young & Other Animals is a 9-piece band from London. So far they have released 3 albums, "We're All In This Together" (2009), "The Band Called Out For More" (2012) and "One Foot In Front Of The Other" (2014). They are working on the fourth one.

Snippet is the project of Johnno Casson from the UK. So far he has released 6 EPs and 2 albums, all produced by Wim Oudijk, musician and producer from the Netherlands. Last summer he released his sixth EP, titled "The Sunshine EP".

Vero is the project of self-taught singer-songwriter Vero Shatkovskey from Toruń, Poland. She started to write, sing and to play instruments at the age of 6. Her lyrics tell real stories. Currently she is raising funds for her debut album.

Jeff Hayman is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Mandurah, Western Australia. In 2008 he moved to Stadskanaal, the Netherlands. Since the age of 15 he has been playing and writing songs.

Katy & The Escort Orchestra are from Switzerland. They describe their genre as sparkling soul. Their lyrics tell true and fictional stories. They released their debut album "Same Old Game" in 2013. Recently they released this single, titled "Fire".

Natalie Chandra is from Switzerland. Her interest for singing started at the age of 13. At 17 she moved to Singapore to study at "College of Performing Arts". Just before moving back to Switzerland she recorded 3 of her first self written songs.

Nearfield is an electronic group from Portugal. In 2011 they released their 13-track fan-funded debut album, titled "PopFace".

Maitreya is from New Zealand and began his career in 1995 as a founding member of live hip hop band, Nilstate in Christchurch. In 2008 he released his debut album "Close To Home". In 2010 he released "Te Puna Reka – The Sweet Flow", an EP in Māori.

IreneB is from Barcelona in Spain. In 2005 she graduated in modern music and jazz, in 2006 she released her debut EP "Mi Realidad", in 2009 she released her debut R&B album "Metamorphosis" and in 2012 she released her second album "Welcome Back".

Olivia Gray is from Switzerland. She has recorded with well-known musicians like Francesco Napoli and Paco Aguilera, former member of the Gypsy Kings. She has also performed for 40,000 people in Chile at the well-known Festival in "Viña de Mar".

Singer-songwriter Ellie Williams has released 2 albums so far, "Unseen" in 2009 and "Hope" in 2012. It took Ellie just 50 days to raise a budget of $50,000 on the crowd-funding website SellaBand for her debut album "Unseen".

Gisel de Marco is originally from Argentina, nowadays she lives in Switzerland. At the age of 7 she got a toy piano and at the age of 10 she had made her first home-recorded album "Blue Bay". In 2010 she released a studio album "All The Way".

Saint Nicholas Orchestra (Orkiestra Św. Mikołaja) is one of the oldest folk bands in Poland. The band was formed in 1988 when there was no interest in Polish traditional folk music. Since then it has been said, they have invented Polish folk music.
You will only listen to two more TalentCast programmes before our summer break. Next Friday we will bring you the last edition before the summer. But after that we will still meet one more time before our summer break begins: on Sunday the 28th we still will host our sixth album listening session. This time we will host a band from London, The Crocked Monsieurs. You will find more details on our "Album listening session" page.

Today the music is rather peaceful and we play quite some songs from Switzerland. That is not on purpose. It is just a coincidence. We start with a new song from a singer-songwriter from Amsterdam.
