Song of the Week
Pay It Now
Megan Burtt's musical adventure started at age 6, when she started experimenting with melodies and rhythms on her grandmother's guitar. Later she learnt to play the piano. At 15, she found her father's old guitar in the attic and at 16, she won Colorado Colgate Country Music Competition. It was then that she realized that her life would always be in music.
Megan studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated an accomplished guitarist. After travelling in South America, Africa and Asia, she moved to Mississipi to let her soul experience the blues roots. However, after a life-threatening illness and recovery, she moved back home to Colorado and started working on her debut album. After two decades of listening, learning, traveling and playing she had a multitude of songs to choose from. Her album It Ain't Love, released in 2010, received many positive reviews in American music press.
Megan took her album on tour and performed shows from coast to coast. She also showcased at events like CMJ Festival in New York, Underground Sound Concert Series at the Vilar Performing Arts Center and the Journey Of Hope Benefit Concert. Music Connection Magazine placed her in their Top 100 Unsigned Bands selection, and the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival announced her their Songwriter of the Year.
Megan continues to follow her calling. She says she wants "to be remembered as someone who never took a moment for granted, as someone who pursued an understanding of human emotion — who felt it — and related it through song."
