Song of the Week
John Pascoe ft. Lindy Waldeck
Letting go
The musical odyssey of John Pascoe began when his father bought him a red Rickenbacker 4001 bass in 1976. John learnt to play and soon found himself in a band named Vergata and played his first gig in 1978. He left the band together with the band's keyboardist Greg Fill and formed a new band Tennefield Down. The band featured a few well known Canadian musicians, like Danny Kramer (vocalist) and Daria Bilash (violin). After keyboardist Greg Fill left to form his own band, John Pascoe played in a hard rock quartet called Heartland and then formed a progressive rock trio Lemmings in 1993. In 2003, John started working on a concept progressive rock album titled In God We Trust: an Apocalyptic Fairytale.
Lindy Waldeck has had music in her head all her life but despite many attempts, never had enough patience to master an instrument. In 2008, she instead found musicians and founded her band Jazz&More, which started with playing covers and then began to move on towards Lindy's own compositions. Lindy Waldeck composes her music on her computer.
The story behind Letting Go. The song was composed and recorded as an instrumental version by John Pascoe, who wanted to have the lyrics sung by a female vocalist. He mentioned it to the radio host Peter Timmerman, who sent the track to Lindy without mentioning it to John. Lindy took on the challenge and recorded the vocal part.
